Walking

Kalkan and the surrounding area is steeped in history and culture. The Lycian Way for example passes through Kalkan and popular walks are signposted with yellow and black signs. Embarking upon local walks can be fascinating, but do ensure you have a good map or go with a local guide.

Boat Trips

Arguably the most popular way to spend the day is on a boat, sunbathing, relaxing, swimming in the lovely warm waters, and generally doing nothing except soak up the sun and quietness. We use a couple of boats for our lazy day at sea, each has sunbathing areas as well as shade. They will take you to 4 or 5 local bays where you can have a refreshing swim or snorkel. Lunch is provided which is made fresh in the tiny galley kitchen and typically consists of rice, chicken stir-fry, chips, salad, various vegetable meze dishes, followed by fruit. The boat can be hired privately just for your party, or you can share with others. Please ask for details.

Local Ruins (Patara)

If you are interested in ruins, then Patara is a great place to visit. In ancient times Patara was a major harbour and principal city. Amongst other things is the reconstructed parliament building and amphitheatre. It is thought that this was the first democratic parliament to be formed. Although what remains of the ruins at Patara are not as big as sites such as Xanthos (about 2 kms from Patara), Letoon or Tlos, once you have enjoyed them, you can wander down to the small village of Patara for a drink or meal, or go to the beach.

Saklikent Gorge

Saklikent Gorge, the third largest gorge in Europe, is another popular destination for a day trip. The gorge has ice cold water gushing through it into the river all year round. During peak season the water is low enough to cross, and you can walk the gorge which can be dry. Or if you prefer, hire a tube and let the current down you down the river. This is great fun and kids love it! There are places to eat and drink along the riverside, or just relax on the ottoman style floor seating and dangle your legs in the river. All in all Saklikent can be an energetic day or a chillout day. You choose. If you have a car it is fairly easy to find and is about a 30 minute drive away. Or we can arrange an organised tour for you either privately or shared.

This is just a selection of things available to you, but please ask for our full programme.

  • From the moment we made the initial enquiry to the day we left the villa - Louise was so professional and yet very accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble - no matter what the request, she went out of her way to help. The booking was smooth and without hitch, the villa was stunning and the holiday amazing / thanks to Louise!

  • 5 star review  Kalkan is stunningly beautiful. I fell in love with the place on my first visit nine years ago . I travel to Kalkan two to three times a year , mostly three . The sea is superb, people wonderful , so warm and friendly . Restaurants serve first class food and wine , as well as excellent friendly service . Kalamaki is a must if you go there . A boat trip with Sunset Boat trips is unforgettable. We have chartered their boat for two days , a truly memorable trip . If you go for the first time , it won't be your last . You will have the Kalkan bug , so am sure you will return many times . Just live the place ❤

  • 5 star review  Were a repeat visitor to kalkan travelling many times over the last ten years, and this year we were recommended Louise to arrange our villa for us and we couldn't of been happier! We stayed in the villa delores and the place was fantastic, modern and spacious and fully equipped even sky tv which kept myself and my boys happy! The pool and garden was huge with modern bed chairs a place to eat and a large outdoor sofa with great views over kalkan harbour! As for Louise she couldn't do enough to accommodate us and my family and will definitely be using her again and would have no hesitation in recommending her.

  • 5 star review  I booked a villa in Kalkan via Holiday Lettings. Louise was the property manager for this villa and this was how we met her. Unfortunately, our chosen villa was double booked. However, before Louise told us the disappointing news, she found us a wonderful and arguably better villa than we booked. Not only that she organised shopping for us so that the villa had food and water available on arrival. She checked on us a couple of times to ensure we were happy. She also stepped in and helped us when our teenage daughter left her purse containing all her spending money in a Taxi and was successful in helping us get it back. She recommended restaurants for us to go to. Advised us correctly when we had troubles with the air conditioning units in the villa. Our holiday wasn’t without its challenges but is fair to say that Louise was a safe and reliable pair of hands to help us smooth out any issues and ensure we had a fabulous stay in Kalkan. Thank You.
